CHUCK MCLACHLAN - NEW WAYS WITH WATERCOLOR
and WHY WE PAINT

BIOGRAPHY: Chuck has had a
successful career as an advertising exectutive and now has become a
popular, patient and "fun" international watercolor instructor.
Chuck has produced several teaching videos, a book of his sketches
and is working on a reference book for artists. His works are a
part of many private and corporate collections. Chuck has a steady
following of students who praise his nurturing and encouraging
attention in their art endeavors. He believes there is always
something new to learn and loves to see his students take a chance

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Chuck focuses
firmly on the thinking process to painting and how we elect to
portray our subjects. Students will experiment with a change in
thinking while creating new and exciting images. Chuck will give
hands-on support and individual attention as the students think new
ways with watercolor. Through his demos and critiques he will
encourage participants to feel the mood, paint the essence and get
excited over their paintings.

STERLING EDWARDS - PAINTINGS THAT COME ALIVE

Stylized with Emotion
BIOGRAPHY: Sterling is a very
popular watercolor instructor that teaches internationally. He
developed his unique style studying under Zoltan Szabo and other
prominent artists. He owned and operated his own art gallery and
has been featured in Watercolor Magic as the "artist to watch." His
original paintings are in many private and corporate collectors

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Rather then
trying to replicate the subject as it appears, Sterling often
exaggerates colors, maximizes light and dark values and stylizes
shapes to suit his interpretation. This results in expressive
paintings with strong interlocking positive and negative shapes and
a dramatic composition and color rhythm. Through his demos and
individual guidance this class is for beginners and advanced
painters alike. Sterling will help your paintings come alive.

LIAN ZHEN - EAST MEETS WEST
Chinese Painting and Spontaneous Watercolor

BIOGRAPHY: Lian has been teaching
workshops around the world as well as the University of California
at Berkely. He has authored two books:CHINESE PAINTING TECHNIQUES
for EXQUISITE WATERCOLORS and CHINESE WATERCOLOR PAINTING TECHNIQUES
- PAINTING ANIMALS. He has had numerous shows, won numerous awards
and has been published in American Artist, Splash 4, the Collectors
and many more. He was a physician in China before coming to the USA
in 1985 and received his masters in Architecture in 1996. He has
been painting and teaching since then. Enjoy his website at

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Students will
learn Lian's Basic Techniques for pouring and blending detail and
spontaneous strokes together. Lian will teach an overall theory in
Asian Art with some use of the brushes with inks and colors. Lian
helps students touch up their paintings and uses demonstrations and
critic sessions to help each student understand his lessons.

PAINTING NOVA SCOTIA

The Kentucky Watercolor
Society and University of Kentucky Emeritus Professor of Art
Joseph Fitzpatrick invite you to a landscape painting workshop in
Nova Scotia, Canada, Sept 3-9,2008. The workshop will be based
on the scenic South Shore of Nova Scotia, in Hubbards, on St.
Margaret's Bay.
Cost $650.00
The cost of $650.00 includes tuition for daily professional
instruction and nightly critique, an d a voluntary contribution to
the Kentucky Watercolor Society.
Payment Schedule:
A deposit of $300.00 will reserve your place. Final payment of
$350.00 will be due July 1, 2008. Travel insurance is
recommended to insure against cancellation, accident, trip
interruption or baggage lost.
Limited to 10 painters.

The Kentucky Watercolor Society

based at the South Bar Club, at the Southern end of the island.
Cost: $650.00
